On December 6, the network was invited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Germany, H.E. Yadir Salazar-Mejía, in collaboration with Wendy Arenas, director of the organization Alisos, and WWF Germany, to attend the panel discussion "The Transformative Power of Cocoa." During the event, Wendy Arenas highlighted the impact of cocoa cultivation on Colombia’s peace process, drawing from Alisos' experience in the Cacao, Bosques y Paz initiative.
At this meeting, Hereon extended an invitation to Wendy Arenas to visit its laboratories and explore its work on lignin, microbiology, and the potential for producing high-value chemicals. As a result of this visit, the network is now exploring collaborative projects in the field of cocoa research, expanding the Menzypol network, and welcoming Alisos as a new member.
